Visiting the different student clubs is an excellent way to take part of student life in Bergen and meet up with students from different programs and institutions. The clubs are run for and by students on a voluntary basis. You are free to work there as a volunteer, or to come as a guest.
Commonly called Kvarteret, Det Akademiske Kvarter is a large student club centrally located in Olav Kyrresgate/Nygårdsgaten. The building is run by students, and has become an important meeting place for students both during the day and and at nighttime. The facilities include a café, a pub, a concert hall and meeting rooms. There are many ways of contributing to the activities at Kvarteret, and about 400 students are active in areas like the pub and café, graphic design, photography, sound and lighting, security and concert arrangements.

For 37 years Hulen has been a natural meeting place for students who enjoy the combination of partying and good music. Hulen literally means "the cave", and the club is situated underground in a former air-raid shelter. This is perhaps Bergen's most traditional student club and it is known for its long history as a concert arena for the students in Bergen. Hulen is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
